THANK YOU.

Before we know the results of our hard work, I want to make sure I tell you THANK YOU.

Thank you for all your support. Thank you for your donations. Thank you for your text messages cheering me on. Thank you for the meals you made for my family. Thank you for watching Charlie for me.

It takes a village. And you ALL are what makes this so worth it.

Thank you to every person who knocked on doors. Thank you to every person who hosted postcard writing groups. Thank you to every person who wrote postcards - I know soooo many Manhattan hands have been fighting cramps since July! Thank you to every person who sent text messages and made phone calls. Thank you to every person who wrote a Letter to the Editor; who ran and hosted my fundraiser; who greeted visitors at Purple Power Play; who walked in the Homecoming Parade; who organized protests and rallies...

...Thank you to every person who just talked about this election, why it's important, and who to vote for.

I am sure at this very moment in time, I am missing other people. Know that you are not overlooked - it's just that my brain is a little bit fried right now. :)

MOST OF ALL - I want to say thank you to my husband Chris. He likes to stay behind the scenes, unnoticed. But he deserves a spotlight because he held me and my nerves together, and he kept Charlie alive and thriving. He was my pillar of strength, and it has been truly truly hard on this wonderful man to take on my burden. (Not to mention, he soooo did not want to be photographed! LOL)

There's a line in Moneyball when Brad Pitt says, "I hate losing. I hate losing more than I love winning - there's a difference." That line is all me. I'm no athlete - but I am a hell of a competitor. And I hate losing.

But, like the MLB playoffs, there are winners and there are losers, and tonight's results will produce one of each.

The lyrics of Hamilton sustained me all summer and fall as I was knocking on doors. I'd have it pumping in my car.

I am not throwin' away my shot
I am not throwin' away my shot
Hey yo, I'm just like my country
I'm young, scrappy and hungry
And I'm not throwin' away my shot

No matter how this goes down tonight - I want you all to know that I left nothing on the table. I knocked on 2,327 doors - and no matter how often my mentors (John Carlin - I'm looking at you!) told me that I have to speed it up, that I can't spend so much time at a door - I just couldn't help it.

It's the knocking and the talking that kept me going - it's the reaching out to you and having conversations and learning more about you and this community. So perhaps I could've reached more if I wasn't so chatty - but it's the chatty that makes this fun.

And whew! DID I EVER HAVE FUN!!! I really, truly did.

And I hope that showed.

All, THANK YOU. Thank you for your support and your love. I am truly humbled.

If I win tonight, it will be an honor and a privilege to serve you.

If I lose tonight, it will be an honor and a privilege to continue being active in this community and to continue making this place we all call home the best it can be.

Onward,
Kim
