Mike Dodson Misleads Voters on Medicaid Expansion

At Sunday’s League of Women Voters 2022 Candidate Forum, I demonstrated to Manhattan why I am the right choice to represent our community in the Kansas House of Representatives.

I held our current representative, Mike Dodson, accountable for his votes. And quite frankly, his explanation as to why he voted the way he voted didn’t pass the sniff test.

Beyond that, I was outraged (I sat simmering, waiting for my turn at the mic) that Mr. Dodson portrayed himself as a proponent of Medicaid expansion. Never once in his 90 second response did he own his voting record.

• Did he think he could actually get away with omitting the truth?

• Did he think he could pass himself off as an ally of Medicaid expansion?

• Did he think he could remain duplicitous to the fact that he voted NO on Medicaid expansion while arguing all the right reasons to expand?

• Did he think he could pull off speaking out of both sides of his mouth while sitting next to me, Kim Zito?

That’s funny. Because there’s nothing I enjoy more than calling out the truth and letting someone sit in their own stew.
